Feeling Unheard? How a Copywriter Can Finally Give Your Business a Voice

I know copywriters don’t get the credit they deserve! I’ve worked with many of them for different versions of websites I’ve had over the years. They work behind the scenes, make everything seamless, do lots of behind the scenes research and thinking on how to make us business owners sound authentic and approachable.

Here’s some talented copywriters I interviewed recently - all are amazing and talented in what they do as their specialty.  Invest in copywriters, they are great at shaping the online world and are worth their weight in gold!

What is the impact of good content for a business owner these days?

Good content is critical for any business that wants to stand out as a thought leader in their industry…which should be EVERY business. Given how saturated most industries are with competition, your business success relies on your ability to stand out. Good content filled with thoughtful insights, new ideas, and actionable takeaways will help you do just that.

1. Why should a business invest in their content and hire a writer?

Hiring a writer gives you the advantage of putting a professional in charge of your content. A professional content writer will have experience in conducting the appropriate research about your content topic, positioning your content so that it best addresses your ideal clients’ needs, establishes you as a thought leader in your field, and maybe even incorporates effective SEO so that your content comes up in online searches.

With so much content on the internet today, you cannot afford to treat your content as an afterthought or have it miss the mark with your target audience. Great content is memorable and does wonders to magnetize new prospects and readers to you — while bad content can also make you memorable in all the wrong ways. Ensuring you have top-quality content is always worth the investment.

3. Share an example of how you’ve successfully helped a business.

My particular content specialty is in writing case studies — otherwise known as customer success stories. Case studies are especially helpful tools in a business owner’s sales and marketing process because they allow you to share the results and transformation that your work provides through your client’s point of view — giving you social proof and third-party validation. They also allow you to engage people through a story-based approach, which gives your prospects something to remember.

My case studies have helped businesses differentiate themselves in their markets, attract their ideal clients, and close more sales. One of my most recent clients signed three new long-term retainers in the first week of implementing a case study I created for her. She also gained valuable insights from the interview I conducted with her client that has helped her position her marketing in more targeted ways. She has more than made back the investment she made in having that one case study created!

What is the impact of good content for a business owner these days?

So many of our daily interactions have moved online, which means your customers or clients are searching for YOU in that space as well.

People want to feel like they can trust you. And your content plays a huge role in establishing that trust by positioning you as an authority.

Without great content, you’re missing so many opportunities to meet people where they’re at and give them the answers they need to buy from you, even if they’ve never spoken to you before.

Good content–especially good sales copy–is like a 24/7 salesperson for your brand.

WHY should a business invest in their content and hire a writer?

I often hear people say they don’t need to invest in a writer because they can do it themselves. And I can’t deny that. Of course, you’re capable of doing it yourself, but what other business activities are you going to sacrifice to make time for it? And more importantly, how can you be sure the content you spend all those hours creating will convert readers into buyers?

When you hire a (good) writer, you aren’t just hiring a wordsmith. You’re also hiring someone who understands human psychology and will do the research to ensure everything comes together to increase your opportunities for making connections, and in turn, make more sales.

I’ve helped many business owners turn cold traffic into warm leads through their social media content. And when those warm leads follow the breadcrumbs to my clients’ websites or landing pages, my copy helps them get the clicks that turn those leads into customers.

For example, one of my clients booked several consultations and 2 new clients in just a couple of weeks of their newly written homepage going live. And when you’re dealing with sales that are 4-figures plus, that’s a big win.
