Email Doesn’t Have to Rule Your Business: Tools and Techniques to Reclaim Your Time and Sanity

Having systems and delegating can transform your business. It can really make an impact - don’t believe me. Let me tell you about a client of mine and her amazing journey.

Betsy owns a successful interior design firm with two employees. She successfully works on multiple kitchen and bath and full house remodel projects. A few years ago, things were going pretty well with one exception. She dreads her email.

Betsy would open her email first thing in the morning (like many of us) and found herself hours later, putting out fires and trying to answer contractors, clients, and others for various projects. Doing this daily would zap her and remove any creative energy for her projects. She wanted to avoid her email and find a solution that wouldn’t take hours of her day.

I spoke to Betsy about how virtual assistants can help a business like hers and what a virtual assistant can do. She reached out and spoke to a VA agency about helping her with tasks around project management. Once Betsy started easing into working with her VA, the agency asked if there’s anything else she could use help with. Betsy had an “aha” moment and asked if there was a VA who could help with her email.

Here’s where Betsy does the brave thing and has a VA view her email each morning. Betsy starts having her VA look at her email BEFORE she does in the morning (this is easy since the VA is in a different time zone in the US) Her VA organizes the priority of Betsy’s email and what needs attention now or later.

Soon Betsy’s VA is shaving HOURS off of Betsy’s morning. The dread of the morning email is no longer there and Betsy has a relaxing morning routine which allowed her the time and energy to launch Designer Sanity. Designer Sanity is a project management tool for kitchen and bath designers to help them hire, delegate and manage their business.

Imagine if you followed in Betsy’s footsteps and began working with a virtual assistant or someone you can delegate tasks to. The very tasks that stress you out. It would change so much just like VAs has transformed Betsy’s life in amazing ways.

What has it been like for you to hire a contractor? Have you had a success story? If not, what happened or is your fear holding you back? Drop me a line and email me.
